"hAP AC" with 802.3af/at PoE? Enterprise calling...

Fri Feb 12, 2016 9:54 am

Hi,

are there any plans for releasing dualband AP's for big interior installations with 802.3af/at power?

I want to powercycle remotely and get rid of bunch of cables in server room... and not threaten people who unplug AP in order to try out their notebooks (even if they deserve a punshiment).

Yes, I know, this is going to be expensive.

I'd love to have 802.3af/at support on the hAP AC which you can easily house in a RF Elements Stationbox to have it look nice or a dedicated cAP AC would be awesome too.

The hAP AC does have a very wide range input voltage (11v - 57v) which would make it perfectly suited for 802.3af/at voltages but I guess it misses some other needed parts to tell the POE switch to send power. :(

The new hAP AC doesn't support 802.3af? Are you sure?

I know Mikrotik only usually works with passive PoE, but I have the new mAP2n-lite, and this does indeed support proper 802.3af PoE, so I was thinking this might finally be the norm for Mikrotik? About time if so.

One can hope that is the case.

We really want:

- Dual Band
- 802.3af/at
- Looks professional (can blend in mounted to a roof or wall in an office, no offensively bright lights on it)

I just hope you guys eventually replaced that 10/100 Mb Ethernet with 1G. I am not getting that philosophy of "light ac" devices with wireless >1Gb and wire of 1/10

Any details? Release date? Would be very nice to have second ethernet port in it to enable chaining several devices and forwarding PoE.

What the hell is wrong with the US market?

I have had an hAP AC on order for weeks. It's ship date keeps getting pushed back.

I have checked 4 distributors and 2 of them got the international version. None got the US version.

Normis teases of wAP AC. Which is what I actually need. However, its AC V1. When is that going to be available in the US, 2017?

I really wanna like capsman. The only 3 wireless APS I have from Mikrotik are the 951g, wAP, and mAP lite. Let's be serious... the throughput is horrible. Roaming is awesome. But I am limited to around 24 Megs with the wAP. The 951g gets closer to 65 Megs.

As soon as I switch over to Ruckus or UniF--k. I get the full bandwidth of my 130 connection. Partly because everything jumps to 5G. But I still get nearly 65 Megs on 2.4.

I am almost to point where I am wanting to shove RouterOS onto UAP Pro ACs.

Anyways... what is up with the US models and more importantly US stock?

When? It is 2017, the only one supporting this is WAP AC (which is great device) But we also need something like HAP AC LIte with 802.3af/at support.

CPE Requirements:
- Dual radio (802.11a/b/g/n/ac 2x2)
- 802.3af/at + PoE out on port5 (for VoIP phone)
- Looks professional
- 128MB ram minimum
- 32MB flash minimum ( to hold own firmware image + image for caps)
- fast dual-core processor minimum capable of handling 1Gbit/s wirespeed
- 1x WAN port Gbit/s
- 4 LAN ports Gbit/s
- enclosure of HAP AC Lite TC (black) seems to be nice enough
- cost max 50euro excl vat

The CPE vendors like sagem/technicolor seem to be able to build above specs with even a vdsl2 modem in it, 256MB of ram, dual-radio with AC 3x3 for 50euro excl vat.
