Re: HAP AC faulty seriers - very poor LAN performance? (switch problem)

Sun Jul 17, 2016 9:19 am

The serial number of mine HAP AC is: 673705...
I have 200 Mbit/s speed over fiber optic.
The device reach the speed in WAN-LAN and WAN-WLAN
LAN-WLAN wsing 80mhz I reach around 350-400 Mbit/s.
Using 6.35 ROS, 3.31 firmware and woreless-rep
My device is configured like AP - it's not running nat, firewall, or any other.
Fats path is active in the bridge.

I have 200 Mbit/s speed over fiber optic.
I don't think anybody -- even those with the problem -- have reported issues with the SFP port.  The problem has only manifested itself between copper WAN and LAN.

I've just wrote to support, same issue here.
WIFI great performance, but ethernet connection speeds are 40Mbps max.
When I disable Fast Path in bridge, I get better speeds within the switch (lets say from device on port 2 to device on port 3).
But LAN to WAN is same slow speed. Serial number 6764056F9ADA.

for 200Mbps its relatively simple/cheap/weak device i think.
fastrack/fastpath combo can save you from some pain, but bring new ones instead.
CPU isn't powerful enough generally, but thats kinda common for SOHO networking.
todays we're had WiFi routers with advertises speeds with up to 1900 or 3200 Mbps, but majority of subscribers - had under 25Mbps plans( 60-100Mbps in bit more developed countries) and quite few - picked 100-300Mbps plans, yet), which is look kinda ridiculous from both side of that picture to me.

Had brief contact with Mikrotik support and they adviced me to contact my reseller for warranty.
They will ship me a new unit at the end of this week, which I can try out and then send back the old one.
Great service so far, I hope the replacement unit will clear up the issue. I will let you know the results.

Hi, received my new unit today. Serial number 6737063D345F, but whatever I try, inter-switch connections are fast, from switch to uplink (all connected with gigabit cable) throughput remains 30-40Mbps.... So it didn't solve my problem.

Any update on this? I have 3 units that suffer from this issue ... it also seems that reboot makes them work fine for a while, but shortly after speeds drop terribly.

It sounds like this is a limited hardware defect in some of the early shipping units. Others who had this problem apparently managed to swap their routers for working ones via their distributor. Can you not try this as well?

Is there any confirmation about whether this is a hardware issue? I am regretting not testing properly when I got the hAP ac. I'm in Sweden now. Somehow it's nearly impossible to send it back for RMA. That's indeed a frustrated experience.

Problem. There are new MikroTik hAP AC. The provider gives 1 gigabit Internet. When connected directly to the computer network card speed is 750-800 Mbps when connecting to the router, the speed drops to 250-300 Mbps. (wan2lan).

if you have default config

open new terminal in winbox, paste this rule:

/ip firewall filter add chain=forward action=fasttrack-connection connection-state=established,related
/ip firewall filter add chain=forward action=accept connection-state=established,related
Check and report differences.

No change. Forgot to say that when you connect to the first port and failed to raise the connection with the provider by auto negotiation to 1 gigabit. At the port №2 everything is OK. I can give access to webfig.

VaNSqL - Please try:
1) interface bridge set bridge mtu=1500
2) interface bridge set bridge protocol-mode=none

This is from my hAP ac with 100% defalt config out of the box:

Sometimes I get more than 700, this depends on the speedtest server.

When I changed the MTU have been no changes.
When I change the protocol to none, the speed increased.
When I changed the protocol for stp, the rate is the same as in none.
When changing to rstp, internet speed is reduced.

rOS 6.37.4 seems to work well on the hAP AC. Try that as well.

Accidentally came across this topic. I have the hAP AC and I can totally repeat the issues with the unit by having different room temperatures. I have exactly the same issues as TaurusThree - speedtest.net shows excellent speeds. But when downloading something from a distant server then the speeds are terrible. Cooled down the unit and the throughput increased significantly. I'm located in Riga so I can bring the unit in for testing if you need...

A few devices in the first production batch could have an issue in high temperatures. This is fixed by warranty repair, if you still have that. If not, try to keep it cool enough.

I bought it from www.omg.de. It's about half year old, still under warranty. Can I RMA it in Latvia or do I need to send it to Germany for replacement?

Distributor covers the warranty. They sometimes even have their own repair center.
Always buy locally for this reason :)

So, what the normal temperature for hap ac? I carefully read this thread and seems i have same issue with bad speed (<200-300Mbit/s) (not finished all tests althought).

My hap ac now:
[admin@MikroTik] /system health> print
voltage: 24V
temperature: 53C
