RB450G Brick or Can recover?

Mon Nov 14, 2016 1:44 pm

Hi all,

I was trying to format the Micro SD card installed on my Mikrotik RB450G, but in the middle of the process electricity goes off and after that I can't access the routerboard. I've tried many time the netinstall process but netinstall can't find the routerboard. Is there any other way to recover the routerboard or its dead permanently? Any kinds of suggestion would be very help for me.

Thanks.

you must use serial and access the bootloader to force a netinstall

you can use a process like this one:

http://shop.creasol.it/en/forum/8-other ... stall.html

the requirement to connect is the serial cable. (or adapter)

Hi, I've tried a lot but bad luck! Can you please tell me how to connect rb to pc? My laptop doesn't have serial port. Should I connect RB's Serial port to Laptop's Ethernet port or Desktop's Com port to RB's LAN port with the serial cable? Please guide me an easy way to recover my rb450g.
Thank you very much.

you need to use a serial-to-serial cable or a serial-to-USB

A Null-Modem (crossover) cable will be needed. Otherwise the computer/adapter's TX line will go to the Routerboard's TX line and the RX line will go to the RX line. You need the TX of one device to be matched to the RX of the other.
