Today another CCR 1036-12G-4S died. The first 2 had warm environments and died after 1,5 years. This had good conditions and run 3 years.
We have 1100AHx2 running forever in bad conditions. Seems CCR is not as robust?

Probably only PSU? Mine died exactly after 3 years of running. But after psu change CCR running till now:)

I had to replace a PSU on a CCR a mere year after purchase... Seems the PSU isn't that great, frequent PSU issues from what I am gathering from the community.

I am surprised they have not released an update of the 1036 with dual psu's a year or so back. Should be a minor revision.

Ok. Thanks for the info. Try to get PSUs from the distrubutor and one on stock for the other CCRs out there.

@Mikrotik did you change the newer PSUs for longer life. CCRs are the heart of our network so ...

Have had a couple die due to PSU failures.Like you say those RB1100's just work and work and work as I have ones sitting in very hot environments caked in dust not breaking a sweat.
Really strange to me that you can buy the 1009 with Dual PSU's some of the higher end models cannot be had with dual power supplies.

There is definitely some sort of cooling or design issue with the CCR's power supplies.

As a test (what I did), was just to open it up, remove the internal PSU, and connect a external PSU to the power supply connectors on the board.

I ran like that for a few days, and after no crashes, went and spent the money on a new PSU.

One CCR1036 died due to failed PSU after few years of working. PSU had blown up capacitors. We changed capacitors but work was still unstable.
Due to order new original PSU for Mikrotik in Ukraine is a little quest we decided to replace PSU to the external one like it done on CCR-1009-PC (CCR with passive cooling) - External PSU
CCR still works.

We have few CCR1016 which run in hot conditions for few years - no problem
I have one CCR1009 which run in non-heated place (under roof, i.e. outer temperature changes in wide ranges from <=0 in winter to ~40-50 in summer) - works without fails.
I.e. it seems to PSU in 1036 (in early versions) is not proper one (overloaded?)

The early CCR1036's seem to have issues with the output capacitors on the PSU. There is a revised PSU with different brand capacitors that is available through your distributor.

The PSU in the Ccr1036 is trapped in.the corner of the case with no vents or cooling so is prone to getting too hot

The CCR1036 is due for a refresh and hopefully they address the PSU cooling as well as the lack of ECC RAM.

PSU on early 1036 is really bad. I got mine, 8 of it died within the same time frame, 3 years of operation. Ordered extra from distributor, incase the new ones have the same issues.

Had to buy mine directly from MT, after the "distributor" claimed as it is an internal component, it can't be replaced, and refused to even contact MT about the matter So much for MT educating their distributors...

We just had another one die.

I have noticed it is always the capacitor C10, the one closest the heatsink that starts leaking.
