RB - AES HW encrypt desc removed ?

Thu May 18, 2017 12:30 pm

Hi People,

Is it just me , but I soo just now that just on the latest one is specified:
18-05-2017-1100x4.png

All other product descriptions, like CCR, have the proclaimed AES encryption in hardware removed from product info/brochure ??!? :shock:

You would think they could get it right:
"Ghz" should be "GHz";
"7.5 Gbit" is not a throughput - 7.5Gbps would be though;
"and are faster" should be "and is faster";
"RouterBORD" should be "RouterBOARD"

Very poor.

Hi Normis,

Are you saying to me that only the 1100AHx4 has AES acceleration from newer products?
(you don't need to answer this, but I needed to ask)

I was testing the new CCR1009-7G, and the results in the ipsec performance area where very disappointing to say the least..
I am interested in this as my scenario is 5-7 interconnection of 50-200Mb for each in ipsec traffic, with that in mind the CCR1009 for IPSEC , even with multiple streams, was limited with a hard wall as shown in this tread viewtopic.php?f=1&t=121315 .

Does 1100AHx4 outperform CCRs in IPSEC ? Do you have some info ? Results ?

Kind regards

AHx4 can outperform CCR in single stream setups, but total HW accelearion throughput on CCRs is better.

Now for the $64000 question - can the AHx4 outperform AHx2 in single stream?

Yes, in perfect conditions AHx4 will be twice as fast as AHx2.

That's great, since we can get nearly Gbit on x2 right now.
