Powerful Wave 2 routers - when to expect?

Wed Jun 14, 2017 2:56 pm

As 802.11ac Wave 2 routers have hit the market, I wonder when we can expect to see a routerboard based on latest hadware such as Qualcomm's IPQ8069 processor and QCA9994 wifi chip. These two are real beasts in terms of processing horsepower and bandwidth. The processor has four cores clocked @1.7GHz and also has an integrated 800MHz network accelerator! As for the wifi chip, it supports 160MHz channel and 4x4 with beamforming.

Look at when MTK introduced ac routers comparing to when this technology had hit the market.

So hold your horses cuz you're probably about to wait a while...
