CRS317-1G-16S+RM Link Status

Thu Jan 04, 2018 12:03 am

We're using two CRS317-1G-16S+RM to switch the traffic from some HP Servers, a HP Storage, and a Synology Storage.
10G host ports are hooked up using MikroTik DA-Cables: S+DA0001
1G host ports are hooked up using MikroTik Copper SFP: S-RJ01

The problem we encounter: the hosts do not notice, that the port is down, if we disable the port on the corresponding CRS. That is a big problem, if we'd like to do maintenance on the switches (e.g. software upgrades).

With other vendors, we can shut down all ports connected to hosts on one switch, so the traffic is forced to the other switch. But with the CRS, the link on the other end stays up, if we disable the port, so the host still sends packets to the switch. The switch throws them away, as the port is in disabled state. That results in loss of connectivity to the host.

Someone has the same issues? Any idea how to overcome that issue?
