RBM11G + R11e-LTE

Mon Feb 26, 2018 8:33 pm

Hey guys,

I'm new here and today I got my RBM11G + R11e-LTE mPCIe Card.
The RBM11G is working fine, but the R11e-LTE Card is not working.

With "system resource pci print" there is no Card listed an under "interface print" there is only the ether1 interface.

Then I tryed /system routerboard usb set type=mini-PCIe and /system routerboard settings set init-delay=5s, as mentioned in the Wiki (https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:Interface/LTE).
Still no output under /system resource pci print.

Is there anything I can try or is the R11e-LTE Card not working and I need a RMA?

Thanks!

do you have another board where you could check if the card is working?
Could you check if the card doesn't get too hot?

Hi vionZ,

I have the same hardware and the card do not show up in the PCI list as well, although it shows up in USB devices list. The same was with Huawei ME909s-120 modem.
So I guess Mikrotik is using some kind of mPCIe to USB bridge, which is unfortunate if true.

But the card is working fine, so I can answer any questions if you have them.

Hello,

Same issue here. RBM11G not detecting PCIe card. The card does work on other boards, so it's not the R11e-LTE card.
Any suggestions?

Hello fredcom!
I also acquired RBM11 and R11e-LTE. The modem appears in the list of USB devices only after the shutdown command is executed, and the power is disconnected for a while. Please tell me what version of RouterOS you have.

Received a second RBM11G board. Same issue! No R11e-LTE card visible.
Tested PCIe card on second board. Working fine.
Have contacted support and send supout file. Still waiting for any answer for over 1,5 weeks now.

the wwan cards are usb devices, despite their form factor. mpcie slots have some pins that just expose the good old usb port w/o any voodoo. it is perfectly ok if you see’em as an usb device. even some mtik devices use just the usb pins in the mpcie slot , making the slot incompatible with “real” pcie cards, like wlan cards.

I've encountered the same issues with my RBM11G in combination with R11e-LTE

Tried the settings for RB911 as described in the wiki:

/system routerboard usb set type=mini-PCIe
/system routerboard settings set init-delay=5s

Tested the R11e-LTE with an Alix 6D2 system under RouterOS, which is working fine. Also using a Sierra MC8705 in the RBM11G is working fine.
The only difference is that the first LED of the M11G getting a little bit darker after power up compared with the brightnes when using another 3G/LTE mini-PCIe Card.

Upgraded also the Firmware of the R11e-LTE from v007 to v008 and running the RBM11G now under 6.41.4 (OS and Firmware). I've opened a ticket in the meanwhile and ordered another M11G but my
predecessors wrote here, it could be a problem with a whole batch of RBM11G.

Contact Mikrotik support. There are solutions available to this problem.
Received them yesterday and it works.
LTE still seems to be unstable. I'll keep testing...

Some details on how you got/did that update?

Write to support for more information. There is no practical need for upgrade from v007 to v008

To clarify, there are only some R11e-LTE cards that have incompatibility with RBM11G, and we have some ways to fix that. Not all cards are affected, actually a small number, this is why if you have the issue, contact support for more details: support@mikrotik.com

Tnx Normis. I did. I have issues with it on a RB912 Basebox2 board and a brand new R11e, that's why I asked. [Ticket#2018041522001201]

I have a RBM11G & a R11e-LTE-US and it doesn't get the correct IP address from Verizon. It takes the gateway IP as its own and as a /32 which obviously doesn't work. It sets the default gw to the lte interface but its gets no Internet since it took the gateway IP and is not sending the default route traffic to the real gateway.

When I set it to passthrough mode the connected device gets the /30 as it should and Internet works fine. Quite strange behavior.

That sounds like an entirely different issue, please either make a new topic, or email support
