new mt poe SW - CRS112-8P-4S-IN POE question

Tue Mar 13, 2018 8:55 am

i still cant get an answer to this, on the new: CRS112-8P-4S-IN
it has 2x DC plug inputs, so if you plug in a 24v DC in AND a 48v DC in, can you then *choose* Passive 24v POE on some ports, and 802.3at/af (active poe) on some ports?

ie like you can do on a UBNT EdgeSwitch POE ?

or is it all or nothing on the POE ports? (ie all are 24v passive POE, or all are AT / AF poe ?)

this thread seems to say each port "AUTO" selects AT/AF or passive POE (not what we want):
viewtopic.php?t=120219

In some spots we have to put 2x hex POE mt's right next to each other, as some eth runs need Passive POE, others need active AT/AF, (or we use 8 or 24 port UBNT EdgeSwitchs also). we would love to use the new CRS112-8P-4S-IN (or the new 24pt version!) IF IT ALLOWS the user to manually select POE type for each port.

thanks

you can choose auto and manual select needed POE
CRS112-8P-4S-IN is equipped with 12 independent switching ports. 28 V 3.4 A power supply is already included in the box. There is secondary DC jack on the back of the enclosure that supports 48-57 V power supply (not included, can be purchased separately). CRS112-8P-4S-IN can power 802.3af/at devices if 48-57 V DC input is used (unit will automatically detect and provide correct power to devices). Max current is 1 A per port if input voltage is 18-28 V, 450 mA if 48-57 V. Total limit is 2.8A@24V and 1.4A@48-57V.

thanks for reply Mistry, I had ofcourse read that PDF and the specs page prior to posting (neither directly answer my question), however MT support replied to my email (with the same question), and the answer is: YES! this device (and i assume its 24 port version) CAN support 24v Passive POE on specifc ports, while ALSO support 48v "active" POE (ie at/af) at the same time! (i have already ordered 1x 8port and 1x 24port)

this is great news, ive been waiting for a non UBNT product that can support this functionality (at various sites, we often have passive POE MTs + "active at/af" POE UBNTs and IP Cameras, amoung other configurations.

here is direct reply to my email (from mt support):

Hello,

Yes you can use some ports for Passive PoE and some port for at/af PoE.
To support Passive and at/af PoE at CRS112-8P-4S-In just connect 24V and 48V power supplies, and set to all port poe-voltage=auto and poe-out=auto.

Best regards,
Olegs S.

edit: ha, here is a perfect use-case of new of a box/setup we just deployed yesterday (yes, we will be re-doing that AC main power line, it was just temporary):
