CRS317-1G-16s+ enterprise grade ready?

Mon May 07, 2018 9:20 pm

Hi,
we are discussing our future core network for a smb (150 users) with 3-5 vsphere hosts and 2 nfs storages combined with some svsan.
Now we have 2 zyxel 10gbe switches but as we are already using 2 ccr1072-1G-8s+ for routing the subnets I would consider replacing the zyxel with some decent crs.(2 in a HA setup)

What do you think about this plan?
No real features are required, just fast l2 switching.
All acl will be done on the ccr.

thanks

Hello!

The same question! Please, answer someone who has implemented the CRS317 for such needs...!

Now we are switching iscsi and some (~20) vlans on two (D-Link DGS-3420-28TC), in most cases it works quite fine. The only we need, to increase the number of sfp+. Just L2 switch, no qos, no qnq, no ACL, no jumbo (in my case). just Ethernet switch.

Do any one used CRS317 for it? Or, maybe guys from mikrotik can answer openly, Do you uses CRS 10G switching on CRS for some needs like above?

going to jump in - canˋt be worse than some zyxel or d-links imho.
2crs as aggregation switches, 2 more for iscsi/nfs, aruba 256a 48p for clients and 2 ccr-8s+ for internal routing and acl - time will tell.

if mikrotik were some months earlier with the 48p models and some switch features (802.11x...)...

CRS112-8G-4S with 5 vlans on the switch chip can easily switch 2Gbps between diferent vlans and cpu usage is lauphable, this without using sfp ports. So i imagine a CRS3xx could do a whole lot better. if you do vlans on a bridge the cpu gets involved and Routing-NAT without fastrack will give most 30mbps with fastrack 250-300mbps. So yeah it's a switch a very good switch.
