show the real link speed of 10 GbE SFP modules

Thu May 17, 2018 2:06 am

Hello,

i have some problems with my 10 GbE network, which i can't properly analyze due some strange behavior of the mikrotik switches or the sfp modules. so, basically, my setup looks like this:
Workstation (S+85DLC03DI via SFP to PCIe Card) <---- 30m 50/125 OM4 fibre cable ----> SFP1 (S+85DLC03DI) - CRS326 - SFP2 (S+RJ10) <---20m CAT 6a ---> SFP1 (S+RJ10) - CRS326 - (SFP2 S+RJ10) <-- 3m CAT6.a ---> NAS (Asus XG-C100C)
At first, everything was fine and i was able to achieve 9,41 GBit/s between workstation and the NAS via iperf3 in both directions. But now, the link is somehow limited to 2,5 GBit/s, while every switch, the sfp modules and the NICs shows 10 GBit/s at the link's status. So, i tried rebooting the machines and the switches, but with the same result: only 2.5 GBit/s. Is there any reason why the S+RJ10 and the S+85DLC03DI are reporting 10 GBit/s as link speed, while the actual negotiated speed is 2.5 GBit/s ? I can't see the "real" link speed in WebFig, SSH or support.rif... but i would really like to know on which part my link is impaired.
