RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN refresh any soon?

Mon Jun 18, 2018 7:29 am

You did some refreshes/reeditions to some of your older products (slightly faster cpu, slightly more ram, newer wifi chip etc). Yet I see RB2011 still stays the same with 600mhz single core MIPS. It's starting to lag behind eg. hEX lineup while hEX is not really the same league. Especially RB2011UiAS-2HnD-IN which is one of a kind. There's also no desktop variant of RB3011 so your 10 port dual switch desktop routers are getting kind of obsolete comparing to other devices. And price is not really competitive either. RB2011 rackmount doesn't really make sense because much cheaper, better performing hEX S is here and desktop RB2011 is kind of replaced by similarly priced hAP ac with... ac and slightly faster CPU. Actually you can just buy hEX S, normal hEX, "glue them together" with ethernet and you have 1) redundancy 2) better performance from 8 cores 3) two gigabit switches. 4) only 2 ports less 5) for almost the same price

So unless you REALLY DESPERATELY need 10 ports and touch screen (which is actually nice btw, fact that you don't include screens in new switches esp. high end ones like CRS317 makes me sad) RB2011 doesn't really make much sense. Especially with its 10/100 crappy switch which is really useful (no need to waste gigabit for damn printer or rsyslog server) but still... kind of last-decade.

So yeah, do you have any plans regarding RB2011? Some minor refresh or complete replacement? It looks like device that really needs some love or it's gonna fade away, loose sales and become forgotten.
