RB1000 boot loop after upgrade, how to netboot

Fri Jul 13, 2018 5:12 pm

Hello!

How do I set a RB1000 into netboot mode? I have a failing one which is in some boot loop after a failed upgrade attempt from v5 (beeps once every 10s).
I tried to shorten the C229 surface contact and also tried the undocumented button left of the LED but it still loops and does not seen to go into netboot mode

Just to rule out my setup is making an issue I also tried a RB450 which boots fine into netboot.

I looked at the backup of the router config it has the enable jumper reset enabled.
set baud-rate=115200 boot-delay=2s boot-device=nand-if-fail-then-ethernet \
    boot-protocol=bootp enable-jumper-reset=yes enter-setup-on=any-key \
    force-backup-booter=no

Use serial console cable to see what is happening. You can set the booting mode by that too.

Hello Jarda, thx for the quick answer, yes, I struggled a bit to find a console cable, but now I did.

Interesting enough, I do not get in the setup menu, I tried it with a RB450 (just to see if the cable is ok) and that worked fine.

I measured the first cable and it did not fully look ok, I just made me a new cable following https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:S ... al_Console that worked.

What I did was to erase the nand after that the RB1000 showed up in netboot and was happy to be flashed.
