High speed network

Thu Aug 16, 2018 8:48 pm

Hello!

I am currently planning a new high speed network for our office building.

The offices are located on different floors and at every floor there will be two wiring closets. For each of this wiring closets we plan to use CSS326-24G-2S+RM Switches. These switches will be connected with SFP+ fiber channel to the core switch.

For the backbone switch we plan to use the CRS328-24P-4S+RM switch. This switch will be connected via SFP+ to the CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+ Router.

As we need high speed WLAN we decided to use the hAP ac access points and connect them via Gigabit/PoE.

The fiber channel network is planned with a ring topology to get a high availability setup.
core switch -> first floor A -> second floor A -> third floor A -> core switch
and
core switch -> first floor B -> second floor B -> third floor B -> core switch
Later we will add a second core router and a second core switch so that we have everywhere n+1.

As this is the first project with mikrotik hardware I would like to ask what do you think about the chosen hardware. Do you have any recommendations or potential issues we have to think about? Would you exchange some pieces of hardware?

Thank you very much!

Please stop calling ethernet over fibre "fibre channel", these are two different things.
