RBM33G not recognizing LTE cards

Tue Oct 09, 2018 12:10 pm

Hello everyone.

I've bought a RBM33G and two mini-PCI-e LTE cards: Mikrotik R11e-LTE and Huawei ME909u-521. Neither is working. The ppp interface doesn't show. The cards don't show in system resources.

I tried both slots.

The board also has a WiFi card installed that works, but the LTE cards don't work even if I remove it.

What am I doing wrong? The Huawei's card is listed in the supported hardware, and the second card is by Mikrotik, so it should work, right?
Where to start troubleshooting?

those cards are essentially USB devices. your wi-fi is a PCIe device.

check under /system routerboard usb what is set as type. it shall be mini-PCIe

[admin@router] /system routerboard usb> set type=
USB-type-A mini-PCIe

this is just a wild guess, i faced similar issue with a basebox :-)

OK, I've read through similar topics and I changed the jumper to redirect the USB port to mini-PCI-e slot.

Now the LTE card is working, but only in the second slot. That's fine for me.

However, it takes very long time for the LTE interface to connect. Is that a known issue?
UPDATE: I get an IP address only in 3G mode, not LTE. It may be a problem with my ISP (Tesco).
