SPF / SPF+ Compatibility

Tue Jan 01, 2019 8:09 pm

So I get it: SPF = 1Gb | SPF+ = 10Gb

Seeing that Mikrotik only has one router with a combo (one of each on the CCR1009). Would a Multi SPF+ port CCR speak to another device that only has SPF ports? AND would this matter if the next end of the link is another Manufacture's device (i.e Mikrotik SPF+ connecting to a Netonix or Cisco SPF port)?

I ask because I'm looking for a router with more than two ports for fiber connections but also can connect to another device that has a SPF Gigabit port.

Yes, you can use "sfp+ interface" to connect to "sfp interface", only caveat is that you might need to adjust some settings on both ends of link as configuration must match. More info can be found in link below.

Devices should work together as long as both ends of the link have matching configuration.
