Hello,

to be honest i was expected from a device with "MQS (mobile quick setup)" size to be equipped with 4G LTE interface as well.
If not for this time at least for next time ?

Best Regards,

Daniel

Yes. No 802.11ax,
not mentioned Terragraph (https://blog.mikrotik.com/announcements ... graph.html),
not mentioned the LTE BS (viewtopic.php?f=7&t=144428&p=715143&hil ... se#p715143)

They found that customers do not buy new hardware devices without the needed working software ...

Wow literally one wireless device ? No version 7 despite them having no software releases for 2 months it felt like. It seems all they care about improving is LTE and switches. Btw does anyone know what frequencies this is ?

Silence around 802.11ax is deafening... and disappointing.
I guess in the end we will be happy if 160MHz channels are actually fixed and working on RB4011 year after it launched... wave2 is already lost cause... 802.11ax not even planned :(

1- Are 1-MikroTik 802.11ax Plans in 2019?
2- When will software support be provided to take full advantage of the features of existing 802.11ac wave2 products?
3- Is there a prospective study of MikroTik for the current Flagship Routers? When's Varise?
4- Why doesn't the Indoor Point cover the need for an Access Point with external high gain antennas? (cAP ac needs External antenna model.)

MikroTİk Please answer them.

Good to see the CRS326-24S+2Q+ isn't vaporware

Rest of the stuff doesn't really do anything for me. Need some more mid/high end router releases to be honest.

- mUPS pro: 24V/48V battery support, 24V/48V PoE out support,

Would be nice if it could send notifications, since after they removed the voltage sensor on the crs326 switches, we don't get notifications from the original mUps.

i have around 300 x CRS326/CRS226 switches in my network, and while the CRS226 can show voltage input (and therefore can alert me of running on mUPS with a script), the CRS326 can't, so I have no way of knowing if the device is running on mUPS, so it would be great if the mUPS pro could send out notifications

Sincerely

- CRS326-24S+2Q+: 24x SFP+, 2x QSFP+, Q3/2019

So this switch uses the biggest chipset from Marvell's
Prestera DX series, i.e.: 98DX83XX Ethernet Switch Family

What I would like to have from MikroTik is a current switch with more ports: 48x 10GbE, 6x 100GbE, dual Power supplies
Therefore the Maxwell Prestera EX chipset (98EX54xx) could be used.

About "GPEN": do Mikrotik has plans for OAM like 802.1ag or ITU-T Y.1731?

OAM would also be useful if you once build a PWR-Line with Ethernet (instead of USB) connectivity to manage powerline modem.
OAM-Winbox would also be great ;-)

Ethernet over 1,5km?
The big cost of fiber optic access is not the fiber and fiber hardware. Civil engineering is the most expensive, so why copper laying on the ground?
I wished Mikrotik had jumped the G.hn bandwagon for power-line as well as long-reach ethernet. So already installed wires (power-grid, POTS, coax, Cat5, fiber) could be (re-)used with the same protocol.

This GPEN thing has been born and dead already, so MT is at least few years late. We’ve been making such stuff out of MT switches since 2010 but now all devices are collected and clients converted to GPON access. It’s way cheaper, more reliable and faster. So you should probably have focused more to GPON solutions: 19” rackmounted 4-16 port OLT, 2-4 port industrial outdoor OLT, various integrated ONT options. I don’t think MT is incapable of making this stuff.

It seems like Mikrotik is expanding into new technologies lately (LTE,Powerline,GPEN,...). Which would be great, but it feels like it's at the expense of "traditional products" like WISP wireless.
Yes, we got 60GHz stuff that's really great, but just look at the state of the WIFI on RB4011... or even simple thing like OpenVPN UDP support - the thread about it is 11 years old!
One good thing is that NV2 on ARM seems to be (hopefully) fixed, but how long that took... in many cases new products are sold and can't even work according to the specification for years until they are fixed.
I really hope they did some study and saw GPEN and Powerline will sell well and there is high demand for these technologies somewhere...

The GPEN injectors seem like it would work well with the reverse PoE switch that was announced. They're a tidy-looking demarc that hides the power jack and PoE out jack, with a nice flat front that you can brand / label.

There's a few spots where we have customers in small apartment buildings where the landlord doesn't want 10 antennas installed for the ten units, but doesn't have a power source for the building that isn't tied to a unit. So with these products, we can install a single radio on the roof, install the reverse PoE switch on the wall or in a secure location and then install a GPEN Injector in each apartment to all power the radio. If there's another building on the property, we can do the same setup, but instead of a radio on the roof, we can run fiber to the first building.

Though while a lot of these products are useful and exciting, I was really hoping to see another flagship router to replace the BGP-challenged CCR1072. At this point I'd take a 1U server with an Intel Xeon with a bunch of SFP+ cards jammed in the front and a Mikrotik logo stuck on.

They'd have to be running something like Proxmox on the hardware with CHR running on top to make it work. That would actually be kind of neat if it's integrated cleanly, you could have multiple instances of RouterOS on the same hardware with some rudimentary backup / failover. Mikrotik would sell you one box and be able to make more money selling you additional CHR licenses.

1.5km extended ethernet sounds pointless when single-mode SFP's costs next to nothing today.
Manages some CCR's, RB750Gr3, RB922 and wAP's

I still prefer a structured copper inhouse installation over fiber in many places.
1. We struggle a lot with sfp problems. Some get hot, autonegotiation is often not successful, ...
2. Some watts extra
3. No poe possible
4. Copper is much easier to handle esp. if a cable is broken

Congratulations! You have unlocked additional secret Fast Ethernet port on your device!
This port looks like mikroUSB, but only works over electrical power lines.
To utilize it you need this new "PWR Line" product, that not only acts like power adapter to the device, but forwards data to Electrical network.
You need at least one another PWR device on opposite side, same as above or use https://mikrotik.com/product/pwr_line_ap
With great knowledge comes great responsibility, because of ability to recognize id... incompetent people much faster.

Thanks for your answer! That part (i.e. how powerline adapters work) and the fact that we need a powerline device on the "other side" looks straightforward. What I don't really get is the following:
  • Does this update simply turn the mAP into a powerline-compatible device? (i.e. that piece of hardware has been hidden on the board all along :) )
  • If so, and it works over the microUSB port, for me it means that you plug your random USB charger into the mAP and the mAP will be capable of communicating with another powerline device on the same electrical cable right? Like voilá, you have a powerline adapter now. This seems a bit strange to me, as it would mean the mAP "couple the data" onto the power cord through any random USB power supply you have (or - more plausibly - over a specific, strictly defined, Mikrotik-made type of USB power supply).

Thanks!

The powerline adapter is basically entirely new powerline modem, with it's own CPU. There is no magic "microusb" that can forward powerline signal to the mAP, that's impossible. The external box would probably appear as a USB device when plugged into phone or PC (existence of drivers to actually use it is a different matter).

It's just a USB device just like an ethernet to a USB or wifi dongel. It has no CPU in normal words meaning.

But the sense of this device escapes me.

Thanks for the answers, although I'm not enirely certain if I'm not getting something right or the question is not well phrased enough so let's get more visual:

So compared to a standard powerline setup such as this one here:

[PC1](RJ45) ---<UTP>--- (RJ45)[POWERLINE DEVICE 1](230V socket) ===<mains wall cable>=== (230V socket)[POWERLINE DEVICE 2](RJ45) ---<UTP>--- (RJ45)[PC2]

Will you get this:

[PC1](RJ45) ---<UTP>--- (RJ45)[mAP](microUSB)---[SPECIAL POWER SUPPLY?](230V socket) ===<mains wall cable>=== (230V socket)[POWERLINE DEVICE 2](RJ45) ---<UTP>--- (RJ45)[PC2]

?

better scenario:

[Router](RJ45) ---<UTP>--- (RJ45)[POWERLINE DEVICE]---(230V socket) ===<mains wall cable>=== (230V socket)[new mikrotik POWERLINE DEVICE](microUSB) ---[mAP lite] ~~~ <WiFi> ~~~ [PC]

good to get an AP running in a place without ethernet cable connection.

Well, these all new PowerLine devices are ok, but what about MT outdoor wireless? Has MT mentioned any plans to introduce some new AP? Or we're stuck with good ol' RB912/92x?
