Airflow CRS317-1G-16S+RM

Sun May 19, 2019 11:31 am

Hello,

I refer to CRS317-1G-16S+RM for use as top of rack switching and ISCSI switching in the data centre.

My Colo provider REQUIRES as MANDATORY Front to back airflow. This means that fans should pull the air from the front of the rack and push it oput of the back to maintain proper hot / cold aisle performance.

I prefer my top of rack switches to be mounted at the rear of the rack.

My question: Is it possible to unscrew the fans in the CRS317-1G-16S+RM and turn them around to change the airflow direction?

I have not ordered the switches yet, so I cant just try it.

Feedback appreciated.

Hi,
I've not done it, but looking at the inside I would assume it should be possible:

Even if air flow can be reverted, the unit when mounted on the rear of rack would be completely in hot zone because it's far from being deep enough for itsnrwar end to reach the front of rack where cold zone ends ... So even this setup might not be wellcome by co-lo staff.
