Force 2.5G or 5G

Sat Aug 17, 2019 10:28 am

I've got CSR309/CRS305 pair with S+RJ10 SFP+'s.

Is it possible to fix the interface data rate to 2.5G or 5G?

Right now it auto-negotiates to 10G but the cabling isn't really good enough. RouterOS (haven't checked SwOS) doesn't give much options;
[admin@crs309-office] /interface ethernet> set name=sfp-sfpplus1 speed=
1Gbps 10Gbps 10Mbps 25Gbps 40Gbps 100Mbps

Open the interface configuration, click the ethernet port you want to setup, select the ethernet tab and remove the "advertise" checkmark(s) for rates you do not want to use.
Keep the speed on "auto negotiate".

It doesn't seem to work that way.

I had both ends set to only 1000M full and I got a 1 Gbit/s link.

I have both ends set to only do 1000M full or 2.5G full and I've got an unstable link and the other end is saying "Auto Negotiation: Done", "Rate: 10Gbps".

On the Status section it has a tick on all the speeds despite the Ethernet settings.

.. I disconnected both cables and now it auto-negotiated to 5 Gbps -- despite both settings saying just 1G and 2.5G. Now 10G is not selected on the Status section in "Link Partner Advertising".
