CRS309-1G-8S+IN SM link flapping

Mon Dec 16, 2019 11:03 pm

Good evening

Have now my CRS309-1G-8S+IN in place now since a few days for testing...and discovered suddenly that a link started flapping this noon every few seconds....
The link uses a Cisco SM-LC SFP module connecting to an older TP-Link switch over 20m SM fibre...

Tried to unplug/replug the fibre..cleaned of the ends...to no joy...

After rebooting the flapping stopped now...

Anyone experienced similar problems using Cisco SM 1G modules?

Before the link was served by a Ubiquity switch with no problems at all..using same SFP modules and same fibre...

Ah yes....running 6.45.7 in bridge mode...

Is it better to load SwOS? And will I still have CLI access with SwOS?
I intend to buy another CRS309-1G-8S+IN as not all hosts with 10G interfaces are in the same room...

thanks in advance

Could be a dampening issue. Popular with such short SM links.

Good evening...

Moved now to all MM fibre....

All 10/1GB links are flapping like hell...is this normal with Mikrotik switches and 3rd party SPFs?

Seems not very reliable to me compared with other manufacturers....

Interesting to note that two links go down at the same exact time...so definitively nothing to do with the fibre or the device on the other side...

So definitively something to do with the CRS309 switch....though it is running version 6.45.7 RouterOS...

Hello,

Did you solve your problem?
I have a CSS326 showing exactly the same behavior on the SFP+ link. I have a FiberStore module Cisco compatible SFP-10G-SR, which third party modules are you adopting?

Regards

Nope..it is still flapping...around 12 times a day......running 6.46.1

Seems only sfp-sfpplus1 port is affected....with a Cisco SFP-T module....

Did you try another SFP port?

I also tried to switch port but the behavior is the same.
My situation is a bit worse because I never saw a stable link :-)
The 10G link is up for 1-2 seconds and then down. I have a ticket opened with FS to verify module compatibility.

Hmm..what puzzles me in my case....SFP-T module needs to be set to fixed 1G and no auto-neg....as soon you do this the link is marked as up, regardless if a cable is plugged in or not...

So theoretically it should never flap....

Maybe return the switch?

Power up the soldering iron? (o;
