CRS326-24G-2S+RM - Power for a FAN

Thu Jan 09, 2020 12:44 pm

Hi,

I have currently 6 switches CRS326-24G-2S+RM in a rack. The switches are running at about 83°C CPU temperature. Is that ok? Can i use a fan inside the switch?

There are the connectors J1, J2 and J3.
J1 is for the power supply, currently running at 24 V.
J2 is not connected to anything and has 24 V, when the switch is running.
J3 has no voltage when running.

Is it possible to connect an 24V fan (e.g. SoundOriginal Brushless DC Cooling Fan 24V 0.06A 40mm x 40mm x10mm Speed 6800) to J2?

Kind Greetings, Karel

That's basically what I did in the CSS326.

Beware: While powered exclusively via PoE there will be no current on J2, thus the fan won't work.
