LHG LTE

Sun Feb 16, 2020 7:52 pm

Hi, I would like to upgrade the R11e firmware in the LHG but cannot because the simm card is on a private APN with no internet access. The LAN interface does however have internet access but the R11e has to upgrade via the LTE connection.

Is it possible to get a firmware version from Mikrotik to upgrade by uploading as opposed to updating via LTE connection.

https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/Manual:I ... re_upgrade

Starting from RouterOS version 6.44beta20 it is possible to upgrade modems firmware.

Firmware update is available only as FOTA Firmware Over The Air - firmware upgrade can only be done through working mobile connection for:
  • R11e-LTE
  • R11e-LTE-US
Firmware update available as FOTA and as well as upgrade from file for:
  • R11e-4G
  • R11e-LTE6
Firmware updates usually includes small improvements in stability or small bug fixes that can't be included into RouterOS.

Check currently used firmware version by running:
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte info lte1 once

-----
revision: "MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v008"
-----
Check if new firmware is available:
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1
  installed: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v008
     latest: MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v010
Upgrade firmware:
[admin@MikroTik] > interface lte firmware-upgrade lte1 upgrade=yes
  status: downloading via LTE connection (>1min)
Whole upgrade process may take up to 10 minutes, depending on mobile connection speed.

After successful upgrade issue USB power-reset, reboot device or run AT+reset command, to update modem version readout under info command:
[admin@MikroTik] > /interface lte at-chat lte1 input="AT+reset"

List of fresh FW are:
  • r11-lte6 -> v20
  • r11-lte -> MikroTik_CP_2.160.000_v013
  • r11-lte-4g -> v9
  • r11-lte-us -> v16.02.183961
  • sxt lte 3-7 -> v???

Thanks for the reply. I do upgrade OS and routeboard via LAN side. When I run the LTE firmware update though, it does not want to update through the LAN interface. The LTE interface does have the running flag but I can't figure out how to get the update through the LAN interface. Is there a specific FQDN that I have to route to through the LAN interface? An example of how to get the modem to update via LAN is exactly what I am looking for.

only support@mikrotik.com can give you answer. I not debug this process. I think that LAN upgrade is possible only for 4G and LTE6 via LAN side (because they can upgrade via file) but maybe this file must be downloaded only via lte1 interface - if this is a case then you must provide other sim to do so.

You can write e-mail to support@mikrotik.com and ask them about update about your modem.

PS. In title you write LHG LTE but you not specify what modem you have and that way I answer you about all modems in my answers.
