my ISP does not use PPPOE, I get an IP directly from the cable-modem in DHCP. There is no authentification going on, they use the cable-modem MAC address to allow/disallow connection to their network. Can you authenticate with your ISP with PPPoE ? If yes give it a try...
On my first post I said it was running the default config. Is the 4011 running the latest ROS 6.46.5 ?
Is the configuration the default one or not ?
.However, Laptop directly on the RB4011iGS+RM ether2 with cable-modem on ether1 and the "default" router config, I cannot get more than 200 - 230MBps of download speed.
I asked so that i be sure you have not run Quickset 10 times above the default config or made any changes...On my first post I said it was running the default config.
something else like what ? Laptop -> cable modem = 400mbpsI asked so that i be sure you have not run Quickset 10 times above the default config or made any changes...On my first post I said it was running the default config.
4011 is a powerful router and can Route traffic a lot higher than the one you report... Most probably something else causes this issue...
I ve seen this "solution" recently in the forum... Indeed it work for an RB2011 if i remember right...Using WinBox make a Supout.rif package and copy it off to your computer.
Go to System/Reset Configuration and select "No Default Configuration". Click on "Reset Configuration".
After Router reboots, go to System/Reset Configuration and don't select any options then click on "Reset Configuration".
After the router reboots again test the router speed.
Did _EXACTLY_ what you suggested. Did not fix the issue. Here are two videos :Using WinBox make a Supout.rif package and copy it off to your computer.

What double nat?For me the problem is the double NAT...
I know what double nat is.When already natted traffic goes an other time through a NAT.

Then sorry but you don't know what double NAT is...I don’t see this condition in my setup.
This is a Modem/Router....Cable modem is a Technicolor TC4400-AM
Well, I do not consider the double-nating from the modem/router. It depends on which mode it has been setup. I get a valid Internet Ip Address, so I am not considering it double nating at the moment. Then sorry but you don't know what double NAT is...I don’t see this condition in my setup.
Yes there is double NAT in your setup...
Internet -> ISPs Router does NAT -> RB4011 Does NAT -> Computer

Ok let us know then what is the mode it has been setup...Well, I do not consider the double-nating from the modem/router. It depends on which mode it has been setup.
Correct, I get a valid IP from DHCP server which is :Ok let us know then what is the mode it has been setup...Well, I do not consider the double-nating from the modem/router. It depends on which mode it has been setup.
So what you are telling me is that your RB4011 holds a Static or Dynamic Public IP right ? Since you say there is no NAT happening in your ISPs Router...
You get an address through DHCP client which is in the form x.y.z.w/b , what are the x,y numbers ?
Could you tell me what to look for in the stats of ETH1 ? I never done this kind of deep debuging.Did You look into the WAN ethernet stats, of the 4011? If a dumb switch change things, maybe we can see errors on the ethernet layer...
From CLI:Could you tell me what to look for in the stats of ETH1 ? I never done this kind of deep debuging.Did You look into the WAN ethernet stats, of the 4011? If a dumb switch change things, maybe we can see errors on the ethernet layer...
Just did that. and surprisingly, I now get 400mbps and no error on the ethernet layer. From CLI:Could you tell me what to look for in the stats of ETH1 ? /interface ethernet print stats from=ether1
From webfig:
Open the ethernet interface page, and scroll down. Bellow "Overall Stats" You will find "Rx Stats" and "Tx Stats". There You will find the counters, with errors, if any.
From Winbox:
Interfaces -> ether1
Look into the tabs "Rx Stats" and "Tx Stats".
We are looking for errors, such as drops, overruns, collisions, etc.
Connect the 4011 directly to the modem. Take a look at the numbers first. Run the speed test. Take a look again at the numbers. Compare them. This will tell us if we have some problem at the ethernet layer.
I still need to figure why Chrome on my desktop caps at 200mbps though.
Ahaha, yes, but interstingly, all my computers use chrome and only one of them (actually the most powerfull) has performance issue.I still need to figure why Chrome on my desktop caps at 200mbps though.
So you found out that speedtest tests speed of the browser as well
You can check if chrome happens to consume more CPU during tests ... or if it's running on single CPU core (whereas other browser runs on multiple) during test ...
That's weird. Well, glad to hear it works now. I have no idea about what could be causing this browser behavior though.Just did that. and surprisingly, I now get 400mbps and no error on the ethernet layer.
I am dumbfounded.

After 4 consecutive speed test.

It all depends on your physical setup. You can place the AP anywhere you want for better performance, you might not be able to do so with a router.i don't want to open new topic. so. is it better 4011 with integrated wifi or 4011 without wifi and with cap ac in capsman? thanks
