Are the antennas on the RB4011 detachable?

Tue Oct 06, 2020 8:52 pm

We are looking at the RB4011. It looks great, except that we need the antennas to be detachable, so that we can attach our own, much larger, external antennas. The unit will be indoors, while our external, outdoor antennas will be outdoors.

It's hard to tell if the antennas on the RB4011 are detachable, and if we'll be able to use our own antennas with it. Does anybody know?

Thanks

No, or you have to make your own cables.

Thanks for the photo!

As far as I can tell from the photo, and the block diagram, the 2 white cables are the 2.4 GHz, and are attached to the R11E miniPCIe card, while the 4 black cables are the 5GHz, and attach to the board directly. Does that sound right?

What I'm wondering is what kind of connectors they attach to the boards with under that white goo (dielectric grease?). Is it those snap-in connectors (I think they're called UFL connectors)? Are they accessible (AKA can the goo be removed without destroying parts)?

Can you remove the antennas from the housing? I mean I know that the cable can't be removed, but can you fully remove the antennas, so that the housing would look like an RB4011 without wifi?
