PPPOE Capacity using Routerboard Hardware

Thu Dec 23, 2004 8:30 pm

Greetings,
I was wondering if there were benchmarks out there that anyone had regarding PPPoE throughput on the Routerboard 220?

Basically, I'm wondering how many subscribers I could confortably sell 348k to on a given tower and expect that they will be able to get the availabe bandwidth. Same for 768k.

I have a tower that has 30+ PPPoE clients that occassionally experiences slowness but I'm not sure if the Routerboard is up to the task or if I need bigger hardware to keep up. Any advise you have would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Its depend from Memory&CPU

For P233 + 128MB, max limit must be not less 150-200 (IMHO),
try search Mikrotik manual, section PPPoE&PPP for more information

And P233 have some limits for Bandwidth: 15-20Mbps

I am not sure for RouterBoard, its depens from Chipset type (PCI BUS)
