Any diagnosis tool?

Mon Jul 09, 2007 12:38 pm

Hello everyone,
I have just configure a wifi network. I have a problem with my RouterBoard since it seems to crash very frequently. Sometimes i can connect to the network, but this connection often stands for several minutes at maximum. then it crashes. moreover most of the time I fail connecting to the network, and some laptops can only connect for a few seconds.

I'm using a RouterBoard 532A with Router OS 3.0 beta 9. Is there any tool to diagnistic if the problem comes from a defficient RouterBoard or not?

Thank you for your help.

1, What type of cable are you using?
2, What is the length of cable?
3, Does it pass close to any mains voltage cables?
4, What is the processor running at in %?
5, Have you tried upgrading the power supply to 48V?
6, Have you got any monitoring in the background that may be using resources?

Regards,

Jamie

I thought Intel 3945 was not supported. That might be the reason. However, it is not good news to hear some card may reboot the router only because it is not supported, if it the case.

It used to work so I don't think they actually collide.
However I changed of RB and took one of the 100 series. And it worked.

I don't know whether chips inside RB from the 100 or the 500 series are really different, but it could help to understand the problem if they weren't...

Yet there is no more problem. I gave the RB532 to someone else who knows better tha me how networks and RB work, so just forget about the thing.
Thanks for you help. bye
