RB4011 replace 2.4Ghz board with Wave 2 capable PCIe?

Wed Dec 09, 2020 12:55 pm

RB4011 Wifi edition with new new wave2 Wifi package does not show the 2.4Ghz interface.

What are the HW options to replace the R11E board with a "wave2" compliant PCIe card,
to use both interfaces with the new Wifiwave2 package?

You can unpack the wave2 wifi package with 7zip to see supported Qualcomm chipsets:
IPQ4019 IPQ6018 IPQ8074 QCA9888 QCA9984
Now all the IPQ are integrated CPU with radio, so not what you want. So only QCA9888 QCA9984 are valid choices you should look for.
This still doesn't guarantee you that any PCIe card with such chipset will work, but it's certain any card with radio NOT listed above will not work at all.
After a quick search I found Compex wle1216v5-20-2 and some cards from Emwicon, but prices are crazy ($100+ for a card).

thanks rOOt. I will try to get a compex card.

I can't imagine to not using the RB4011 when now the new Wifi drivers are released...! Would be a pity...

New wifi drivers are in "Development" release.

Mikrotik can route. When it comes to wifi... Pick another vendor.
