RB3011 took hit from the storm

Fri Dec 11, 2020 12:19 am

Hello,

Our RB3011 on one of our sites took hit from lightning. Since it's not under warranty anymore I took it home to take a closer look. Now, there's Hex doing all the work. I've opened RB3011 and noticed one of the microchips melted, blown away, went to chip Valhalla, whatever you call a place where microchips go. I'm sending the pictures in imgur link here. Can anybody identify this chip so I can give it to a friend for fixing? I can't read from it since it's blown.

I'd appreciate any kind of info that will lead to reviving RB3011.

Re: RB3011 took hit from the storm  [SOLVED]

I think it looks like this one , since it is located in the power-supply section of the board, probably some voltage regulator (like LMxxxx models)

http://www.liteon-semi.com/upfiles/tecf ... 657516.pdf
(LSP5522 : 2A DC/DC convertor)

https://datasheetspdf.com/pdf-file/9034 ... /LSP5523/1
(LSP5523 : 3A DC/DC convertor)

Take a look at this post with a foto of a working one, if you look closely it indeed seems the LSP5522 or LSP5523 or something.

Thank you Jvanhambelgium,

On mine, I can identify the last digit to "3" so I'll order that one.

Thank you so much. I'll update the thread when a friend fixes it.

Best regards.

It would really surprise me if, by replacing the chip, the Routerboard will work again. But always good to give it a try!

It is very likely indeed that other components have been impacted too and that this voltage-regulator was the most visible one ;-)
But hey, its only a 70 cent part and some easy soldering-work ;-)
