RouterBoard 450G booting problem.

Tue Jan 19, 2021 10:45 am

Hello,

I have an old RB4500G. A few days ago it started to beep (once in a couple of minutes) and blink all five port lights. I did netinstall and after that, it was booting normal again. I left it unplugged for a day and just now I plugged it in and it has the same problem - beep and flashing port lights, and it won't boot.
Is it a hardware problem and I can't fix it (keep in mind I already tried netinstall) or there is something I can do?

Small update. I left the device on and after few minutes it stopped flashing port lights and booted up. So now I don't have any idea what is the reason for this malfunction.

Check the capacitors, their tops should be nice and flat. If they are bulging or leaking, they are going bad. See e.g. images in this post (two green ones are bad, the brown one in the back is good). If that's it, it's possible to replace them and the board should run like new again.

Thank you for the replay. I attached picture with capasators, but all of them looks fine.
Also, I have plugged-in/out routers power adapter approx. 10 times and so far every time it booted correctly.
Will see how it goes.

Board is in the manufacturing site. It will be as dusty in days. Before you say, that's the problem - this board was running from 2013.
