The R11e-LTE modem is no longer detected

On several LHG LTE KIT devices purchased about 2 years ago, the R11e-LTE modems stopped being detected and working. After buying a new R11e-LTE modem, all devices work fine. But how to restore the failed modems? When connected to a computer via the minipcie to usb adapter, the WUNKONG device is detected briefly. Probably the firmware in the modems completely flew off.
