SFP+ between HEXS and CSS610-8G-2S+

Thu Apr 29, 2021 11:23 am

Hi,
I've bouth an XS+DA0001 DAC to interconnect an HEXS router and an CSS610-86-2S switch (port SFP1).
This DAC is ok in the compatibility table : https://wiki.mikrotik.com/wiki/MikroTik ... lity_table
Also, it's ok for SFP (1G) : https://mikrotik.com/product/xs_da0001
The issue is that I get not LED light on router and switch.
What's the issue with my configuration and what's the routeros config for having the same IP range between the router and the switch just behind?
Tks

...best I can think of, is trying to force 1G mode on CSS610 side, as it may want to force to 10G which the Hex-S cannot support.

IP config is simple...enable dhcp-server on the link on the Hex-S, as the CSS will try to receive an IP via DHCP first.

Passive (copper) DAC will not work if the two sides mismatch in speed.
you cannot force speed settings unless you disable autonego, but it is nothing you would do.
just pick up some el cheapo multimode SFPs or an AoC, and it will work like a charm.
SX SFPs go around $7 and mikrotik devices will accept them regardless what's the brand/vendor

The only way to work near stable on sfp1 on hEX s is:
do not support non-half and non-1G speed on any sfp compatible modules
/interface ethernet
set [ find default-name=sfp1 ] advertise=1000M-full arp=enabled arp-timeout=\
    auto auto-negotiation=yes bandwidth=unlimited/unlimited disabled=no \
    full-duplex=yes l2mtu=1596 loop-protect=default loop-protect-disable-time=\
    5m loop-protect-send-interval=5s mtu=1500 \
    name=sfp1 rx-flow-control=off speed=1Gbps tx-flow-control=off

Passive (copper) DAC will not work if the two sides mismatch in speed.
Mikrotik's DAC works perfectly fine from CCR1009's SFP+ to CRS112's SFP if autoneg is disabled and speed set to 1gbit.
So even if it is not the case here, it is still not an universal rule.
