Options for keeping CRS354-48G-4S+2Q+RM switch silent?

Wed Aug 25, 2021 11:32 am

I have to live and work by this case. I think it's going to be a bit loud under load. Can this unit run Noctua PWM fans without killing anything? I know it's not covered by the warranty.

Would a cooled case help solve the problem? If I place the unit right by the intake fans should that silent it? I could always just replace those intake fans with some Noctuas.

The Fan behaviour on Mikrotik devices are controlled by the
PoE-out consumption, SFP temperature and CPU temperature

The Noctua-Fan don't produce the same amounts of Static pressure and Airflow as the original Fan's.
So if you make the Upgrade you will have to keep a eye on your Router temperatures.

I personaly converted my CRS328-24P-4S+RM to Noctua-Fans to preserve my sanity =)
I am really happy with the Upgrade and FAN-Speeds are usually >2000 RPM with no "Pulsing", BUT
SFP+ Modules, especially RJ45-Interfaces, connected to the Switch will MAX-OUT the fans.

Fan related information you can find:

As you have already stated - warranty may be voided in case you decide to replace the fans.
