any positive on CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS ?

Tue Aug 31, 2021 8:59 pm

Hello,

Yes I have read all those posts about reboots every few days and so on.
But are there any success stories with working setups without reboots or other glitches? Maybe newer batches are fixed somehow? I can't believe that MT released product that can't be used in core network environment where any reboots are unacceptable. My current CCR1036 is 170 days up, and last reboot was not planned, there would be 360 days uptime.

I need 4 SFP+ ports for static routing and some NAT.

I can't afford CCR3072

This is also a very important question for me.
I am faced with the question of whether to purchase a CCR2004-16G-2S+.

However, looking at the thread about the problems with the CCR2004-1G-12S+2XS, there's no way I'm going to do that. The reboot problem has not been causally fixed after over a year now, and that's on a professional grade device. I have not found even the slightest explanation from Mikrotik there, whether it is hardware or software problems.
Now the users have to hope for ROSv7. I do not want to get into such a position, even if it is "only" for private use.

Too much trust in Mikrotik's competence has been lost there.

Old(ish) thread, but I've been using one for months as my border router for a 10G connection in a data center on version 6.47.10. Average traffic is 100-300Mbps (for now), no random reboots that I've noticed. (I purposefully rebooted it the other day, so I don't have an uptime to look at.)

I'm running BGP (filtered to just default route and local subnets via VPN), OSPF, some light NAT, some L2TP tunnels, and a bunch of VM's behind it. So far, so good. Just got a CCR2004-16G-2S+ to try at a different location.

just do a router on a stick setup, plug in a 10g switch on one port of a 1036, do some vlans and be done with it.

have 2x2004 and it's not wort the hassle, I'm on 6.47.10 and random reboots are going strong. I will not be upgrading to 6.48.5 or 6.49 due to long boot times on routers, so can't test for newer versions.

It's just running BGP with 2k routes and 15-20 peers.
My solution so far was to have them reboot every 3 days at 3am so they don't reboot during the day. 1 random reboot in the last 15 days at noon :(.
