RB2011 powerjack issues

Thu Sep 09, 2021 5:17 pm

I have purchased a handful of RB2011 and I have a very common issue. The power jack is loose and wiggling the power cord causes the router to reboot. Looks like a major design flaw. Any quick fixes for this. Will mikrotik replace?

What model as they have different power connectors placement.
All the model have same RouterBOARD, change only the metal box and if is it present wifi or not.
On all models the power jack is on the same identical position on the back.

No one single devices of that series I have present that problem.
Probably you use some current transformer that have the jack with bigger hole inside,
instead of the power source with regular small hole inside the jack...
Inside the box I find the european power source.

NO. You are wrong that alll 2011 models have the same motherboard. Do you see the difference?

For internel connector I would suspect broken cable going into a case as it gets bend. For these with "external" connector maybe you should replace the socket as it got "overused".

P.S.

BartoszP, if the OP talk about a power jack, is absolutly wrong suppose that the device,
than has the same RouterBOARD, is the model without power jack soldered...

BartoszP as moderator, why you are so permalous and provocative?

Instead, PLEASE, reply to this, you can:

Both motherboards have power socket soldered but in different places. For both types of mobos we can use same power supply with the same plug.

The difference is that these models witch "internal" socket need power cable to be passed inside the case but there is a special hook/clamp which holds this cable tight and unmovable in such a way that plug is stable and does not move. For "external" versions plug protrude outside the case and is vulnerable to be twisted/pressed/pushed into ... and it makes RB2011 connector less resistent to damage.

So the question is still valid: what type of RB2011 (or what mobo type) we talk about?
