Correct RB for 400DS/200US

Wed Sep 15, 2021 2:23 am

Hey there,

i am looking for a router replacement and would like to have your opinion on my hardware choice.
As you can see from my title i got a fibre connection with 400Mbps DS and 200Mbps US.
No wifi needed because this has already been covered by a seperate access point.

I got several wifi clients in my network and a bunch of wired clients as well.
Most of the traffic for my ethernet clients will be related to streaming services like netflix and amazon prime.
the wifi clients are doing regular web browsing, e-mails, nothing fancy.

Given the test results and block diagrams that mikrotik provides and judging from my own experience i think a HEX S should be able to get the job done.
No vlans tags will leave the switch so the HEX doesn`t need to bother with that.

Would you agree with me here, or maybe any other suggestions.
I honestly feel that in mikrotiks current lineup it comes down to either a HEX S or going the RB4011 but this seems a little bit over the top for my use case but i am open to other opinions of course. :)

Thanks in advance.

Between HEX-S and RB4011 there is the IP4018/9 Routerboard (for example HAP AC2/3 and Chateau).

You can pick an Hap AC2 and disable the wifi.
