Redundant power for CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+ ?

Sun Jan 02, 2022 5:18 pm

I have two questions concerning the rack mountable CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+
It has dual AC power supplies and PoE in port.

Question 1: Can the PoE in port be used simultaneously with one/both of the internal AC power supplies? I don't want to test this out and damage the router. In many other routers with external switching power supplies the PoE in port can be used simultaneously with the DC input via the barrel plug, and this results in redundant power from two completely separate sources (for example wall power and a battery bank)

Question 2: Can the two AC power supplies be plugged into different AC sources/phases? For example, can I plug PSU1 into the AC wall outlet, and PSU2 into an inverter that is connected to a battery bank? I ask this because I plugged each internal AC power supply into two different UPSs, and when the power went out the UPSs started beeping and turned off... It got me thinking that the AC power supply inputs are probably connected in parallel without isolation...

Thank you and kind regards -

Answer to Question 1:
Yes you can use PoE-Input and AC-Input simultaneously to provide Power to your Device.
Be aware the CCR1009-7G-1C-1S+ need up to 39 Watts.
So be sure to choose the proper Power-Supply
12V@3.34A
24V@1.7A
48V@0.84A

** I personnaly would use 24V or higher
To keep to AMP`s under 2A over the Network Cable.

Answer to Qustion 2:
Yes, you can use a combination of different AC sources/phases.

Thank you very much for the information @ConnyMercier. Very detailed and well explained. I now feel confident to run some tests without fear of damaging a production router.

Kind regards -
