PoE powering RB2011UiAS + RBcAPGi-5acD2nD

Fri Jan 13, 2023 7:39 pm

Greetings!

A have a pair of Mikrotik devices - RB2011UiAS working as router and switch, and RBcAPGi-5acD2nD (cAP ac) working as access point.
After I bought an PoE IP-cam, I've understood that none of my devices can power it because of passive PoE out, so I've also purchased 4-ports PoE switch.
So I'm full of ports but out of power lines O_o I'd like to save one or two, and looking for proper connection scheme. Reading specs gave me the following:

PoE switch (802.3af/at) ---> [Port 1] RBcAPGi-5acD2nD [Port 2] (Passive PoE) ---> RB2011UiAS

Is this correct?

Re: PoE powering RB2011UiAS + RBcAPGi-5acD2nD  [SOLVED]

Won't work because RB2011UiAS can only work with supply voltage up to 30V, but 802.3 af/at works with 48V-57V. And cAP ac doesn't do any voltage regulation (what comes in, goes out).

So you can power your cAP ac via PoE, but you'll have to keep using power brick for powering RB2011.
