RB411 Anyone??

Sun Oct 28, 2007 9:29 am

Has anyone out there got any information at all on the new RB411? It's a drop-in replacement for the RB133C tht was mentioned in the last MUM event article.

Guessing is more fun!

The following was posted on a mail list thread:
The RB411 CPE board will be demonstrated at the Egypt MUM. This is a drop-in replacement for the RB133C with connectors, board size, and mounting holes the same as the RB133C. It will be appoximately 3X faster with the same price as the RB133C. Preproduction orders will be taken at the MUM and will be shipped in that order.

I think that the best CPE product would be an Atheros WiSoC based board. But it is only my opinion.

I've already read all about the RouterBoard Crossover... While it is a nice idea, it doesn't help me. It is virtually useless outside of its narrow range of capabilities. What about 900MHz clients? What if I want 802.11n? 4.9GHz Public Safety? Forget it.

I'm interested in the versatility a modular client baseboard provides, and I'm willing to pay a little extra for it.

I'm just trying to plan deployments and update our equipment roadmap. The RB133c only just has the horsepower to be a polling Nstreme client... I'm looking forward to the possibility of optimizing my networks with a faster client device.

Sincerely, I don't understand your point.

I have some RB133 boards, with a sustained bandwidth of 16mbps and not full cpu utilization. Usually the bandwidth carried by one customer is much lower than this, so RB133 is the most versatile option for CPE.

Also, you have the possibility of use RB333, that allows NStreme2 thanks of his processing power.

so you are saying ... you want a powerdul device that supports all the features, expansions and is also stabile ... for less than 89$? :D If you are really willing to pay for it, you have a lot of othr routerboard products to choose from. Don't just look at the cheapest smallest CPE and blame it for not having features.

No, that's not what I'm saying.

I'm saying the new Crossover CPE is not for me. I currently use the 133c for that reason. I'm just looking for more processing power.

Mikrotik already told us in their newsletter.....
The RB411 CPE board will be demonstrated at the Egypt MUM. This is a
drop-in replacement for the RB133C with connectors, board size, and
mounting holes the same as the RB133C. It will be appoximately 3X faster
with the same price as the RB133C.
So, it's a drop-in replacement for the RB133C, 3 times faster, at the same price point.

I'd just like some information on the boards, since we are a small operation that can't afford to fly half way around the world just to get the specs on a new piece of hardware.

Can I expect the specifications to be made available shortly after MUM Egypt, if not sooner??

Yes, specifications will be available in the MUM.
Normis, why you wait for MUM just to give some product information ?
I can afford the MUM core event cost ... but just like taylorc .. I Can't afford the Transportatin and Accomodation cost .. and I thing there is so many many others with the same position like us.

I'm sure that most of us is Techie and sales, Most of us want to be able to do the "production" (Sourcing, learning, Tech Discuss) job right from our workstation and Internet. We can afford small traveling as long as there is no other way to meet our prospective client or maybe for troubleshoot network.

There are so many member of this form is a techie .. have a realy good RouterBoard/RouterOS knowledge and they shared their knowledge freely to all member ...
They gave realy good contribution to forum ... they don't care if their knowldege is commecrialy used by your MUM Attendant.

So .. why don't you consider to give some product knowledge in return to the forum at "no cost" ??

Anyway : Will RB411 can run as AP and HotSpot gateway/portal ?

Routerboards do not carry radios onboard themselves, the radios are added as MiniPCI cards.
To be able to use a specific MiniPCI under ROS, Mikrotik must provide drivers for it.

RB411 doesn't have a onboard radio, yet the RB Crossroads has one.
