RB153 - PPPoE faster then WLan ?

Mon Mar 31, 2008 4:06 pm

Hi Folks,

I just got my ADSL 2+ line (Upgrade from ADSL 1) - and I noticed that the RB153 is actually capable of handling through the PPPoE Interface a higher bandwidth, than through the WLan Interface.
On the WLan Interface I am barely able to get more than 10.4MBit/s throughput, while on the PPPoE Interface - 13 MBit/s is no issue - most probably limited through the ADSL Interface. Note that at 10.4MBit/s WLan I have 100% CPU Utilization, while at 13MBit PPPoE I am hitting roughly 90% CPU Utilization...

Is this a known fact ?
Is there a logical explanation for this ?

Thx for any hints ...

The wireless connection takes cpu cycles. The ethernet/pppoe takes less cpu cycles.
