My RouterOS 3.7 issues

Wed Apr 23, 2008 9:06 am

Since the 3.X series of RouterOS is the way to go then I upgraded some of my RB532/RB532A boxes with it. I have following issues:
1. 5 GHz channel tables for R52 changed. With 2.9.51 I used the Russian channel set and after upgrade it turned out that 3.7 Russian channel set is different and 2.9.51 units did not see the 3.7 ones. Are the 3.7 channels final or do they change in the future? Also, WinBox country and channel selection will require fixing/improvements as at the current state the country selection does not affect possible channel choices and it will be very annoying to select different channel over and over again just to find one what is correct for that country.
2. WinBox Simple Queue Target Download and Target Upload field names should be swapped around to match their actual behavior elsewhere in Queue list.
3. Time zone selection does not take account of DST. For example Europe/Tallinn does not activate DST.

1. Are you in Russia? The channels were updated to the real information according to their regulations. If you are not in Russia, either use your country name, or contact support for Custom Frequency license if you have permission to use those other channels

2. Clarify? Picture example maybe

3. Did you set the DST specifically? You have to

I am not in Russia and if from now on the frequency usage is set correctly for each country then it is fine by me. Still, the frequency selection box should be filled by correct frequency choices for selected country. It did work that way on 2.9 series, but 3.X series will complain about invalid frequency instead.
2. Clarify? Picture example maybe

Where can I select DST there is no check box or other control for it?

We fixed the incorrect list and updated it to actual regulations in that zone. If you feel it's incorrect, please provide state documents that say otherwise.
Picture example maybe
your picture shows that everything is correctly. What client uploads is what router receives.

Apparently it should be adjusted automatically, but in the current version there is a bug in it. It will be fixed.

I do not talk about the regulations in particular zone, but WinBox "implementation" of it. For example if I select a wireless card with 5 GHz support (like R52) and select for me the Estonia region and channel 5180 then WinBox will accept it, but if I select the Russia region after that then I am greeted with a message about "bad band and/or channel" (http://ra.vendomar.ee/~ivo/ros_5ghz_cha ... ection.png). If the 5180 is invalid for the Russia then WinBox should default to some other allowed channel and not complain about wrong combination. Btw where can I find all supported channels for each supported country?

It is weird - paradigm shift in the middle of all things. Some part of configuration is end device centric and all the rest is router centric, but if it is OK then it is OK.

Thanks for that.

I made this list a few weeks ago for a client.. It shows what frequencies are available for each country.. Maybe you can find another country that has the frequency you need..
