PCMCIA Ethernet Adapter Installation

Tue Mar 29, 2005 1:01 am

I am running Mikrotik RouterOS 2.8 on the routerBoard 230 outdoor kit. I am trying to install some generic PCMCIA Ethernet adapter in it. I insert the card, I boot it up. I get a power light on the card, and when I plug it into the switch I get a link light.

However, when I "/interface print" I see no mention of the card. What gives? Any tips on making this card available? Am I missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Can anyone recommend an PCMCIA ethernet card that they have had success with?

Thanks again in advance.

You have to make sure you have the correct PCMCIA Adaptor. I have found that not all supported my MT. I assume you are using a PCI adaptor? Why not use a PCI LAN Card?

You will also need to check to see if the chipset of the PCMCIA card is supported as well.

Have a look at the Device Driver List on this link http://www.mikrotik.com/docs/ros/2.8/guide/driverlist
