New RouterBoards

Thu Apr 16, 2009 8:08 am

Hi Normis,

When can we expect the launch of the new RouterBoards e.g. RB433U and RB616 ?

I am hanging out for specs as I would like to use both products in a design I am working on, but want to see some actual spec's especially of the RB616 instead of speculating on the amount of mini PCI slots and guessing the dimensions.

Thank you.

Nothing on the RB616 yet but here are specs on the RB/433U (now called RB/433UAH).

Thanks Tom!

I'm really after the RB616 specs, as I am hoping that they have 6 usable mini-pci slots I can load with 6 x R5H and ample CPU power to handle all interfaces at full load as well as act as a PPPoE concentrator for around 120 clients and run MPLS on the backbone. A big ask I guess ;)

Normis: how will the case for it be buildt? i can't really see how it would work...
Or not unless there is some extension cable between the case and board, but how about just pins on the board?

If it just had the pins i could use usb ports from a bracket:

And the case only needed a USB size hole on the side with 2 screws holes...
Can a USB hub be used? of course still under the 2A limit.

it depends on the application. you can also keep the device inside the box, and in that case it's enough with the device cable, no need to get any brackets.
