Failover with UMTS backup

Sat Oct 31, 2009 10:24 am

Hi folks,

I need help about failover configuration using ADSL as primary link and UMTS router as backup link...
I have ADSL router connected to eth1 of my RB450 router and UMTS router connected to eth2... I've tried to make it following this example found in wiki:

"/ip route add gateway=192.168.1.1 check-gateway=ping
/ip route add gateway=192.168.2.1 distance=2"

... don't work... if DSL carrier goes down MT router can ping ADSL router because it's alive, and MT don't switch gateway...
If I try to switch off the ADSL router manually the MT switch to second gateway...

can anyone help me?

Tnx

Paolo

You need to configure your DSL as bridge, and set static route to gateway for the bridge...

So use script, wich will ping some host in Inet and switch your routes. Or just use netwach tool in ROS
