TCP Offload Engine (TOE)

Thu Feb 04, 2010 9:10 am

I'm trying to figure out which router has TCP/IP Off Load Engine to offload CPU processing. I have read through all product brochures and found out that RB450G and RB750G has some sort of CPU offloading packet functions. Is there any other router with this feature?

TOE (TCP offload engine)

TOE technology aims to take the server CPU out of I/O processing by shifting TCP/IP processing tasks to the network adapter. This leaves the CPU free to run its applications, so users get their data faster.

Very old thread but just want to know if MT has tested this with any nics or has anybody used this on any servers such as dell 2950 etc.. does it work ???

Would be important as gigE links are now common. Would also help processing of smaller packet sizes
