Cheapest, Simplest SolarTik / AP Power Solution

Fri Nov 05, 2010 10:50 pm

I decided to settle for a really simple and easy to make AP power solution that doesn't cost much.

Features mutiple power sources, including 2x normal PSU, Wind and Solar, and about 4 days power backup for a single RB433AH all for less than you pay for the RB433.

Enjoy.

I did a whole load of PIC programming in assembler to get TCP/IP working over PPP on a PIC16F88 before i decided that it just wasn't worth the effort. If anyone wants the code, they can have it.

I forgot to mention that you can tell what power the MT RB is on by monitoring the voltage it has, so you can script for whether the PSU have both failed (based on time-of-day if you attach a solar panel).

And you get a few Days of No Problem, so it's not an emergency if/when they do.

Schematic is there at the top.

It turns out much cheaper and simpler to just buy a 15 euro charger than making one.
