According to Mikrotik's newsletter the new RB493G was to be released this month. Any idea when we'll be able to order it?
Thanks!
Thanks for the info. I was expecting some "official" answer from Mikrotik's people but they seem too busy to bother with me.They're shipping. Our stock is in transit and arrives tomorrow night.
Tom
Mikrotik actually said "next month" back on October newsletter but because it's past mid November and 493G are not yet available on any reseller and considering the recent shortage I thought I could directly ask Mikrotik people on their own forum hoping for some estimation. That's all what I was looking for. I'm really sorry if a potential customer question was that bothersome to you.1. Mikrotik already officially said "this month". Were you looking for some other answer?
I'm already in touch with a local distributor (aerial.net). BTW I thought that routerboard.com sell online. Am I wrong?Mikrotik doesn't sell directly to customers, that's why you have to ask Distributors, like Tom
Not sure what you are asking. gbic is old standard interface and is not available on RouterBoards.is that dedicated gbic port or share gbic port?
Orders under 1000$ will have "small order fee" plus shipping from Latvia. It's much cheaper to buy locally, and you will get local support.I'm already in touch with a local distributor (aerial.net). BTW I thought that routerboard.com sell online. Am I wrong?
Yeah I know that normis. It is (much) cheaper buying locally but you know, sometimes it's preferable spending more and get things done right on time if not sooner. For example, three well known MT resellers (two nearby ones) I asked yesterday about 493G and some other MT stuff I need, had absolutely no idea regarding availability; Not even some rough estimation of weeks. I cannot do business this way normis.Orders under 1000$ will have "small order fee" plus shipping from Latvia. It's much cheaper to buy locally, and you will get local support.
Believe me normis, they don't. I buy MT stuff from Aerial.net, LinkShop (GR), Meconet (DE) and LinITX (UK) and they have absolutely no idea when they will have 493G in stock. And btw, not even your own routerboard.com store has them on sale (yet).Impossible, resellers already have them!
It's not that I like or dislike the communication with a reseller but who has the products in stock. This only matters when doing business considering the usual narrow timing margins. You can choose the reseller that you like most, if you don't like the communication, ask some other company.
Great news Nick; The first one is mine (no, I'm not kidding). We should have stock of the 493G in around 2 weeks, once it arrives from MikroTik.

sfp is a newer standard interface that replaced gbic and we hope to see it on some future RouterBoards.

If you are asking about the capacity of the switch fabric, then MT engineers might be willing to address that.
It appears that there are two switch chips on this board. We can probably get that info from the IC datasheets.
