RB1100 port usage

Thu Apr 07, 2011 11:04 pm

Hi. I want to use RB1100 to control 3 different segments of my network, with bandwidth control based in the traffic of the WAN interface.

RB1100 has two switch groups and 3 additional interfaces, including bypass. My intention is to use port 11 for WAN and port 12 for user's switches, so both ports should be bridged. But my question is:

Can I bridge port 1 and port 6 as masters (2-5 and 7-10 groups) with port 11 and 12? (I want to use switched ports to connect some servers)

Is it the most adequate way?

Yes, you can. Most adequate way totally depends on your traffic flowing through.

Brudge usage DOES use CPU. I get 50% or more CPU between port 1 as switch master and port 13 for my admin station when copying large files with 1gbit. Should enable jumbo frames ;)
