RB433AH problems

I have several RB433AH boards with problems. Most are ethernet problems but one is it reboots constantly.

Where do you send for warranty repair? I have see post about service manuals but not where to get them.

I love the Microtik boards but the Ethernet ports seems to be a weak point.

Ok ? - was the 433 powered by POE or by DC jack plug, if powered by POE did you check the dc power supplies, is the ac supply at location "clean" and is a UPS used to feed the dc power supplies, in place of the faulty 433's what are you using now.

433 was powered by poe. i have it on the bench now with new ps. ethernet still won't work. my notebook says it is connected at 100 but winbox does not see it. no mac address or ip address shows. serial console works fine.

@gcs
Did you try to upgrade bootloader to latest version via serial console, then Netinstall?

I have several 411's and 433's with failing ethernet ports. It seems to me it has to do with the POE.
Even managed to upload new ros and firmware by serial upload (takes an hour or so) and installed the new software. After that everything works fine but it didn't bring the failing port back.
And only affects the POE ports. The other ports (if physical available) work normal.
I have two rb433's working in production with the only execption the POE port cannot transport data.
The 411's are waiting for a smart move from my end. That might be a move to the waist bin though...

Sending back for RMA, mostly even out of the warrenty period, is costing the same or more then a new board.

Also, you need to find the original supplyer witch is difficult if you bought through several channels over the last years. Some boards fail after an upgrade or after short lived power cuts after a working live of severalyears....

These POE ports are definately the weakest part in the total physical design of these boards. :(

I would recommend the following.

Boot the device

Access the Prompt Via Serial

Enable Ether 2

Plug in Ether Cable

Hold White button on the side while Netinstall is active with the Boot Catcher.

Netinstall the device with latest Firmware.

Then Check.

I personally run 2 Rb433AH's with 3 Radios each, and i know of 7 more in the field that all run fine.

I would start looking at enviromentals to establish if u are not blowing ports due to strange surging Via Ether or something to that effect if they were all installed in the same place, I have not had an issue where the ports disable them selfs, or go inactive for any reason, and i Generally used to exceed 30Day uptime's with my Routers, Both My Routers have been up for 14D9Hrs since the last time i have updated the firmware.

Hope this helps, Remember that if you are unfortunate enough to blow a ether on a 433 u can get a POE splitter and power the board via DC jack while using ether 2 and the same cable. But like i said its Highly unlikely for that to happen.

I have about 100+ 411's and maybe some 25 433's in the field. Some 433 (normal ones and AH's) have one radio, other two, some 3.
Most of the boards work fine, some for years already. But the Ethernet port failure is an failure reported more on this forum and although in some cases new firmware brings the ports back, I have in total now had some 10 boards of different of these mentioned type that can't be repaired.

Most of the times I indeed have the idea power surges or spikes caused the PoE port damage but I even had two or three boards that worked fine unpacking it and hooking it up for the first time. Logged in, downloaded a new ros and after the reboot the Ethernet port never worked any more.

Issue has been reported several times to this forum and mt support but suggestions were not very helpful.
The issue is also not that power is not transported, data is not passing through. So a power splitter to supply power to jack ain't helping. Boards already boot up normally. Serial console shows nothing strange. It even shows port is up....
