Recommend a server unit - which can use ubuntu and RouterOS

Wed Nov 02, 2011 2:03 am

HI there,

I'm looking to combine RouterOS and ubuntu on one server (i.e. router ability with radius server). But I was hoping someone could recommend me a brand/system which would allow me to do that. Of course I'd have to run something like VMware to have both running at the same time.

I have a HP Proliant MicroServer running VMWare and Ubuntu. Its very small very quiet and works well... The only drawback is that the built-in RAID is not something that can be used. Basically you can either use it with one drive or use it with two non-RAID drives and make both drives avilable to the guest OS and do software RAID on the guest OS.

I've not tried RouterOS as an image but I would imagine it would be fine.

Here is a link to the server on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6859105954
