That's nice. What is the longest distance you have achieved?

Right now we have the max result on Reflector SXT 25 is 13 km far and 20 mbps full duplex.
The limit of Reflector SXT 30 is still in testing but right now we already have the link at 15km 24 mbps full duplex.

Reflector SXT 25 Live Test

Tue Nov 22, 2011 11:13 am

Good day every one
One more sample of using Reflectors SXT from one of my clients.

Testing the speed with 20 mbps in full duplex after successful 15 mbps tastings.
Image
Testing with 25 mbps but in this stage there are packet loss. So better do not calculate over 20 Mbps.
Image
Sigal level, an very important parameter to activate the channels of Mikrotik.
Image
Importance of this table is that it show the distance between the radios.

Thats all ;)

20Mbit doesn't sound too much if we don't know the distance

Yes it's only up to 2dBi more then SXT unit. But reflector must be up to 50cm bigger then Reflector SXT30. It will be too big and not comfort for using and transport.

Hi,

nice work.

Did you made some simulations or even measurements how exactly are these tuned for this type of use ? And what about the forward/backward antenna ratio and so on ? 8)

Why don´t you place the SXT out from the back reflector and point it backwards to the reflector. ??

i am actually impressed by this entire stuff of reflectors for SXT

now when we see a Motorola PTP 100 the radio has a 8 dBi antenna inbuilt but with the reflector they claim it to have a gain of 30dbi. the size of the reflector is also considerably small.... how is that achieved?

do we really need so big reflector for a device which already has a 16dBi antenna gain inbuilt??

can we get back to the drawing board??
by professionals, for professionals....

Re: Reflector SXT 25 Live Test

I have tried a pair of SXT25 reflectors and while I am disappointed for a few reasons
(1) They rust very quickly,
(2) The mounting bracket is not strong enough,
(3) This is a Mikrotik issue but has to mentioned - Water ingress into SXT

Even after saying the above if a more robust design was used and water ingress could be addressed in perhaps;
SXTHG - High Gain SXT, 17.4dB antenna, more directional, 1 watt, Gigabit Ethernet (metal shield), 5Ghz. Available May - Where is this unit?????
I would test another pair as there is many situations where a solid dish cannot be used for windloading reasons like on a timber pole mast or a 75mm aluminium pole?
